Cooking With The Sun
Students will plan, construct, test, and modify solar cookers with a variety of materials, collaboratively
describe how different materials react to solar energy, and evaluate materials for utilizing solar energy.
Real World Science Topics:
- An exploration of alternate energy forms: solar energy
- An exploration of engineering design
In this activity, students will build a simple solar cooker. They will observe and describe how heat from
the sun affects pizza cheese as it changes from solid to liquid form.
Activity Difficulty Rating: 4
Each hands-on science activity has been ranked based on
difficulty of set up and how difficult they are to perform. The rating
scale is from 1 to 5, with 1 being the easiest and 5 being the most
